So how am I doing? I get asked that a lot. I usually say “fine.”The truth is there is a cloud on the horizon. It was a year ago at this time that my sarcoidosis made itself known. I have had a pretty good winter and spring.
But as the weather gets hotter, I am noticing a change. My fatigue is much greater than it has been in a long time. I get winded very easily and I have a bit of dry cough. The aches and pains are starting to return. My vision is going a little wonky as well. I am even starting to lose my appetite again (no weight loss yet).
Why is this coming back now? Part of it is the heat. Related is the sun. I love being outside and enjoying the sunshine. The sun is good for my soul, but not for my sarcoidosis. The problem is that the sun produces vitamin D and vitamin D aggravates sarcoidosis.
Any good news in this? Sure. I will not go through this summer thinking I am dying. I know what I have and I know what symptoms are connected to what. Knowledge gives me hope. As far as my health is concerned, this summer will not be as bad as last summer.
