A devotion based on 1 Corinthians 15:17.
In this chapter, Paul is providing an extended treatment on the resurrection, both of Jesus and of believers at the return of Jesus. The reason for this is that the Corinthians saw themselves as so spiritual that they could not imagine another level. They did not believe that they would experience a resurrection because they were already as good as it gets. Paul responds by arguing that if there is no resurrection, then there is no resurrection of Jesus and that means our faith is a joke.
I am very much involved in apologetics, that is articulating reasons why I believe that Christianity is true. I truly believe that the most important area of apologetics is that of the resurrection of Jesus. There are plenty of Christian beliefs that could be true or false but would have no lasting significance. But the resurrection of Jesus is essential for Christianity to have any truth. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then Jesus was not who he said he was and his death on the cross did nothing for sin. I encourage you to sift through the evidence and to determine the probability of Jesus’ resurrection.
