Thinking? Review

The Church has been blessed in recent years with some excellent apologetic resources. A great addition to these is Andy Steiger’s new book, Thinking? Answering Life’s Five Biggest Questions.

Steiger is a missionary, an American missionary to Canada. He is the founder of Apologetics Canada, an organization that has put on some very successful apologetics conference as well as providing other resources.

What are the five questions that this book addresses?

  1. What is the meaning of life?
  2. Does God exist?
  3. Do all religions lead to God?
  4. Why is there evil?
  5. Is there life after death?

These are questions that are important to more than just “apologetics junkies.” As a former pastor, I encountered these questions regularly from people who had never heard of apologetics.

What I really appreciated about this book is not just the content of the answers (although they are very good), but the tone. Steiger lets his personality shine through and he is very transparent about his own experiences. The book comes across not as a sermon being preached to but as a conversation being shared. This is the type of book that could be shared with a seeker or skeptic without overloading them with apologetic jargon.

If you are looking to introduce apologetics to your church, this would be a very helpful resource. I highly recommend this book for those looking for answers and those seeking to point them in the right direction.
