Batman Begins Revisited

Batman Begins

Tonight I rewatched Batman Begins for the first time in a long time. It is hard to believe that it was over ten years ago that Batman Begins was released in the theatres.

There have been a lot of other superhero movies that have come out in that decade but Batman Begins still stands out as a top notch superhero movie. When many people think of the Christian Bale Batman, they often praise the second movie and Heath Ledger’s incredible portrayal of the Joker. That is a great movie as well, but Batman Begins should not be lost in Ledger’s shadow.

Why is Batman Begins so good? And why is it better than Batman v Superman (remember I actually really liked Batman v Superman)? Not only did Batman Begins have a great acting, but the story was tight. It knew where it was going and everything was done to get it there. There was no sense of packing it with extra stuff, just to be cool.

I liked Ben Affleck as Batman and I look forward to his solo movie. I would never want them to try and duplicate the Christian Bale movies, but I do hope that they learn something from them. There is a reason that they were so successful and hold up more than most superhero movies.

One last note: I just realized tonight that a young Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) from Game of Thrones was in Batman Begins.
