As I write this, it is not only Remembrance Day, it is also the 100th anniversary of the armistice that began the end of World War One.
This make me think of the veterans that have served over the years and how much I respect them. Many men and women lost their lives in various conflicts. But many returned home with either visible or invisible injuries. I’m thankful for them all.
I never met a veteran from the First World War but I have met a number from the Second World War and have gotten to know many veterans from the war in Afghanistan. Despite the differences in generations, it is the same courage.
Whatever our view of war and the appropriate uses of force, it cannot be denied that those who have served have demonstrated tremendous bravery in the face of very difficult circumstances. Not only that, the freedom we have is because of their sacrifices.
I would like to thank all veterans, no matter what conflict they participated in. Your service is appreciated!
