I have been talking about getting a tattoo for years (here is post from four years ago). Amanda has a number of tattoos and I have wanted one. But I always had a reason not to get it.
Now that I have turned fifty, I have less desire to put things off. I made a comment about a tattoo that I was interested in. Emma called up one of her friends’ dad who is a tattoo artist and before I knew it, I had an appointment.
I am very happy with the tattoo. For those not familiar with this image, it is the chi rho. Those are the first two letters of Christ in Greek (Χριστός). It also includes the alpha and omega (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet), which make reference to this verse in the Bible:
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Revelation 22:13)
It was important to me that if I got a tattoo, that it would be something connected with my faith. Perhaps people will ask me about the meaning. This is the reason why I didn’t get it in a hidden place.
I want to make it clear that I didn’t get a tattoo to be a rebel or a hipster. I simply like the look and it makes me happy.
I would like to give a shout out to Rich from the Dawg Pound for a great job on it.
This is my Good News.
