5 Reasons People Are Still Interested in WW2
I have been interested in the Second World War for a long time. There is a reason I have a podcast on the Second World War.
There is no slowing down of movies or books about World War Two. But why? Why is there such interest in this war?
Here are five reasons why I think people are still interested.
- It truly was a world war. Yes it was the second world war but it was more of a world war than the first war. Most of the Great War was on two fronts. But WW2 took place all over the world.
- WW2 is full of big personalities, from generals to world leaders. They were not just influential leaders, they were people who draw our interest.
- WW2 was a conflict of good and evil. That is not to say there wasn’t bad things done on both sides, but this was more of a black and white conflict than later wars.
- WW2 was the mother of technology. Much of what is familiar to us from radar to jets to nuclear power emerged out of the Second World War.
- WW2 was a major shift in world power. This was the hinge where we saw world influence shift from the British Empire to the United States.
What is it about the Second World War that draws you?
