A Date at the Movies
Amanda and I went to the theatre to see a movie. That is actually a big deal. This is not because I would prefer to save money and watch movies when they are streaming (which is true) but because Amanda has not been able to go to the theatres for a long time.
In fact, over five years.
Amanda has had a number of concussions and a common result of concussions is sensitivity to light and sounds, which is pretty much what seeing a movie on the big screen is all about.
I have seen movies with the kids but it is a long time since I have seen one with Amanda. I cannot event remember what the previous movie was.
None of this means that Amanda is recovered from her concussions. She paid a price to see this movie and she is probably still feeling it. But I am so thankful that we were actually able to see a movie.
It helps that the movie was Project Hail Mary, which was a fantastic movie. It would have been unfortunate if she took this step and it was a bad movie. We consider these types of events as “glimpses of grace.” It is not that everything is perfect but there are at least signs of hope.
