A Different Kind of Service
We had a wonderful worship service today at Woodford and First Baptist Church Meaford. It was a service like I had never been to before and I thought I would share about it here. We have been going through a series at church on worship and I thought I would experiment with something different. Normally we have three or four songs. Today we had eight songs but that was not what was different. Here is the order of service from First Baptist:

It was an amazing experience to go through the Jesus story in song. I have never been to a service that included both Hark! the Herald Angels Sing and Christ the Lord is Risen Today (both Charles Wesley classics). The truth is that we do not have many stories but many stories that include Jesus’ birth, ministry, death and resurrection. These great songs do not have to be limited to Christmas or Easter. I encourage you to try something like this at your church. You could just as easily do it with more contemporary songs, although the traditional Christmas hymns are the best. We did not have a sermon, but there is no reason why you could not. It was a worship service that I was thoroughly touched by.
