A Huge Change For Us
My Good News post for this week is big news for our family. It is also bittersweet. Yesterday, we (Amanda and I) announced our resignation as co-pastors of Brookfield Baptist Church.
The obvious questions are why and what church are we going to next?
The second question is easy, as I am not currently planning on becoming a pastor at another church. The first question will take more explanation.
I can say that it was not a problem with BBC. They are a wonderful congregation and they have been very good to us. I have no complaints.
However, last week I was offered a full-time position as an instructor at the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre at CFB Borden. This is the school where i have done all of my military chaplain training and where I recently taught for a five week course.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time there as incremental staff and I was very excited to hear they were hiring permanent instructor staff. Two of the most enjoyable activities in my life are chaplaincy and teaching. This brings both together.
While this is my dream job, I did say it is bittersweet. That is because it is always hard to leave a congregation. Plus, this will very much change the chaplain support I have been providing to my local units.
You might wonder about how this will affect our family. Where will we live? Are we leaving Nova Scotia? Are we moving back to Ontario?
I will let you know when I know. Everything is up in the air, especially as we wait for our cottage to sell. Prayers for all of these aspects of the situation are welcome.
There is much uncertainty and yet we are happy with this opportunity. It is truly Good News for us. Everything is about to change.
