Amazing (Emma) Grace
Today finishes off our season of birthdays for our children. Last month we had three birthdays and today is now Emma’s birthday. As I have mentioned before, our three youngest are not our biological children. We knew ahead of time that we were getting Justus, but the decision to bring Emma into our home was not made until the day she was born. In fact Amanda skipped my Master of Arts graduation at McMaster Divinity College so that she could be at the hospital and make the final preparations.
One of the funny things was our discussion about her name. We had made a decision that all of our children would have at least one biblical name. Logan has Isaiah as his middle name, there is Abigail and Justus has both his first name and his middle name, Mark, from the Bible. I complained to Amanda about the suggested names of Emma Grace. Amanda looked at me with amazement and said, “You are a pastor and you can’t find grace in the Bible?!”
Emma is such a sweet girl. She is the most sensitive one in the family. It really hits her hard when any of us are sick or going through a hard time. She connects well with Logan and Abby, and it is obvious that Logan really appreciates her.
I love having Emma as my daughter and she brings something special to our family. Happy birthday Emma, we love you!
