Dangers of ‘Cool’ Christianity
The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article by Brett McCracken on the dangers of the church trying to be ‘cool.’ You can read the article here. I see Brett’s point. Trying to be trendy is not substitute for being biblical. But we also have to remember that traditional forms of church were also shaped by their cultural context. There is no guarantee that the church in 1850-1950 was any more biblical than it is today. I think we need to hear the message of both the pro- and anti- emerging church critics and reflect on what is biblically essential.
