Faith and Doubt
I just finished reading a fantastic book. It was John Ortberg’s Faith and Doubt. Ortberg is not known as an apologetic writer and yet this may be one of the most important apologetic works in recent years.
Ortberg does not try to destroy the presence of doubt but demonstrates how normal and sometimes useful it is. He explores what causes doubt and how we can respond in a positive way.
The fact is, everyone whether Christian, atheist or any other faith system, has a mixture of faith and doubt. Instead of denying the existence of doubt, we should acknowledge it.
Ortberg does deal with reasons for believing, but even the exposing of doubt is enough to begin building faith. I highly recommend this book for every Christian and skeptic.
