Getting to the Chapel
The recent changes in our life are not just about a switch of occupations from being a pastor to a chaplain instructor. This move has also meant that a change in faith communities.
Not only are we no longer pastors at Brookfield Baptist Church, we no longer attend there (It is a 17 hour drive away).
What our regular church attendance will look like for us as a family is still to be fully determined. But for the last few weeks, I have been attending Trinity Chapel at CFB Borden. This past Sunday, Amanda and Emma joined me for it.
I need to admit that I have really been enjoying the services. It does not belong to any one denomination but is generically protestant. Each Sunday is led by a different protestant chaplain.
Of course this is not a congregation made up of chaplains, there are a number of other people from the base attending. The demographic is quite a bit different from what we have experienced in the last few years.
It still feels a little strange not being the pastor of the congregation. Not that I won’t be involved. I am actually preaching next week. But it is nice to not have the pressure to be in charge of everything.
Whatever the long-term plan is, at this point I am enjoying attending Trinity Chapel.
