Gift of Time
I am an introvert. There I said it. I need time to recharge. But in our crazy life there is not much time for that. I have three jobs plus guest preaching. I have a wife and five kids. Where will I find the time?
Amanda gave me the time. Last week, Justus was away at camp. Amanda decided to go to her parent’s house with Emma and Faith. That left me with the dog, cat, guinea pigs and fish. An introvert can deal with them. To make things better, I had Friday off work. That meant I could choose what I wanted to do.
What did I do? Even though I had the day off, I still did some Faith Today work. I also spent lots of time reading. I did some writing for my chapter of a book that is coming out with all Canadian authors (more on that another day). I re-watched some episodes of Band of Brothers. I even got some stuff done around the house.
That may not sound very exciting but it was all on my schedule. None of it required interaction with other people. It was good for me.
Having said that, I was happy when my family returned. I actually stood by the window, peeking through the curtains, waiting for their return. An introvert is one who is recharged by alone-time but does not live by alone-time.
So I want to thank my wife for the gift of time but I also want to thank her for her presence as well.
