Good News: Being a Padre
When the pandemic hit, I wasn’t sure how that would affect every area of my life, including my role as a military padre (chaplain). Would it put everything on hold?
In terms of my work with the regiment, I’m as busy as ever, even if what I do looks different. Not only am I busy, but what I’m doing is important. I can honestly say that this is one of the most fulfilling areas of my life.
Before I joined, I thought a padre was some clergy who had an interest in the army and was brought on as a sort of mascot, just to say grace at dinners and hopefully encourage God to give good weather for miliary exercises. That is not even close to reality.
I get to enter into pastoral relationships with the troops and walk alongside them as they navigate their military career, civilian career/schooling and family. I’m so thankful that I have this opportunity.
This is my Good News.
