Good News: Getting Things Done
I recently have felt a bit of an emotional weight. I wasn’t sure what it was as there are many good things in my life and not much that is bad.
Then I was listening to a podcast that was about executive functioning, something that I am not strong with. This got me thinking and I realized what was happening.
There are a number of things that I am involved in but are not yet complete. I feel those incomplete tasks and they create anxiety for me. So where is the Good News?
The Good News is being aware of this and taking steps to get done what needs to get done. I have been able to make a plan and set some goals for how I want to accomplish these tasks.
While other people might recharge by just taking it easy, I get energized by seeing what needs to be done and getting those tasks completed. In the last week I have gone into the office feeling down, made decisions to use my time wisely, and left the office feeling much better.
The challenge is that this is not a one time decision. I need to be aware of my weaknesses and put extra effort into doing what I need to do. It is a daily decision to work a little toward accomplishing the projects that I have started (and to not start new ones until I have room).
Being aware of this has helped me and that is Good News.

Hey Stephen,
Thanks for the post, it made me think about the things in my own life that are unfinished. It has been dragging me down as well. I need to concentrate on the unfinished and get these things complete!
