Good News: Making the Best of Christmas
It was not the Christmas that we had hoped for. This is our last Christmas at our current church and city. There are a lot of things that we could wish were a part of that.
Sadly, we were not able to see our two children who live out of town. We did not even see our extended family that lives in the area. I didn’t even participate in our church Christmas Eve service.
All of this is a mix of the current COVID-19 explosion of cases, as well as the fact that I have a very bad cold. None of this allowed for us to be with the people we would wish we could.
That is not to say that Christmas was terrible. There were some fun parts to it. Really it was about making the best of a difficult situation. We did what we could and tried to focus on the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus.
This Christmas has been more about looking to the future than focusing on the present, at least to the best of our ability.
