Good News: Seeing My Children
We are very thankful that we have been able to move to Nova Scotia. It has mostly been a positive experience. There has been one thing that has been a downside.
Our two oldest children still live in Ontario.
Logan and Abby live in group homes and have done so for a fairly long time. Even before we moved to Nova Scotia, our visits had been infrequent because of covid-19. Add to that, that we have been here for 1.5 years and it has actually been two years since I have seen them.
I really didn’t know when I would see them again. But an opportunity came up. My mother-in-law had been visiting with us and unfortunately was injured during her stay. She needed someone to fly back to Ontario with her and I was that person.
I only had about 48 hours in Ontario and I wanted to make the most of it. I visited with a friend, a cousin, and my sister. Those were all great, especially seeing my sister.
But the highlight really was seeing Logan and Abby. I visited with them individually and I loved every moment. Even though they are minimally verbal and there is not much conversation, there is communication on a different level. They seemed happy to see me and I was definitely happy to see them.
While I’m sorry that my mother-in-law got hurt, I am thankful for this opportunity to see them. I hope to see them again far earlier than another two years.
