Good News: Spiritual Retreat
One of the recommendations of the Office of the Chaplain General in the Canadian Armed Forces is that all chaplains have a spiritual retreat. We are supposed to do it annually but I have never done it.
Until last week.
One of the things that had made me hesitate to go on a spiritual retreat was knowing what to do. You might think a spiritual retreat as a weekend at a monastery or something along those lines. We are actually given quite a bit of flexibility.
One of the options is to attend a conference. A conference that I had already wanted to attend was the Institute of Theology and Disability. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend in person. But it was being streamed online.
Watching it online at home or at the office would not be as refreshing. But we do have a cottage and it happens to be one of my favourite places in the world.
And so my spiritual retreat was participating in a conference on a topic that is of great interest to me. As an introvert, it was also time alone to help me recharge. And I took some time in there to just relax and watch some fun movies.
It was a great time and I am thankful for the opportunity.
