Good News: Thankful for Moms
Mother’s Day is always a bittersweet day for me. On one hand, it is a day when I especially miss my mom. I had a pretty amazing mom (not that I told her that enough). She was one of the most loving people I ever met, not just to people in our family, but to anyone who was in need. I miss the days when I could just pick up the phone and call her. I wish she could have lived to see us move back to St. Catharines and to be pastoring at Queen Street Baptist Church.
On the other hand, I’m blessed to have an awesome wife who is an incredible mom. Our family is not particularly easy or stress-free. Between autism, physical health and mental health issues, there is always a lot going on. But Amanda does an amazing job.
Today, we spent Mother’s Day in the way that was significant for our family. We drove a couple of hours to visit our children with autism who live in a group home. Normally they come to us but for various reasons, we decided to make the trip ourselves. It was so good to see Logan and Abby. They were very excited to see us, especially since they have not been able to visit as often.
I’m glad that Amanda was able to be with all five our children today. She has poured out her heart into our family and she deserves to have quality time with the family.
I’m so thankful for my mom and her legacy that continues in my life. I’m just as thankful for Amanda and all she does for us.
