Good News: The Force is With Us
Tonight Justus and I went out to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I have loved Star Wars since I got my first Chewbacca action figure in my Christmas stocking almost forty years ago. Justus has loved Star Wars since I first introduced him to A New Hope (which I only knew by the name Star Wars when I was a kid).
Justus thrives on Dad-Son time (almost as much as he enjoys Mom-Son time). It was nice to have time for just the two of us. Family movie times are fun but things are different when it is just the two of us.
I was thinking as we were watching the movie that I was Justus’ age when the first Star Wars movie came out. I suspect that this movie will do for his generation what A New Hope did for mine.
I value this time with Justus and am thankful for these opportunities. It was a great movie and we both really enjoyed it. Justus liked it so much that he had trouble picking out one scene that was his favourite. If you want to know my favourite scene, it was Kylo Ren’s interrogation of Rey.
So my good news for the week is that I am able to make memories with my son. It is a bonus when they are Star Wars memories.
