Good News: Twenty-Four Years
Today is the twenty-fourth anniversary of when Amanda and I got married. Hard to imagine that it has been that long. The building that we were married in and had our reception at is no longer a church and the pastor who married us is no longer with us. It seems like a life-time ago.
So much has happened in that almost two and a half decades. Our family has expanded. I originally wanted four children but after having our first, I thought one was enough work. We ended up having five children.
We are truly partners in so many ways. Because our first two children were born with disabilities, we never had the option to just coast along in life. There has always been so much to do, including a tremendous amount of advocating.
Our partnership has evolved over time, with us eventually becoming co-pastors at our current church. I am blown away by how naturally gifted Amanda is. I’m thankful for this opportunity together.
I will not pretend that this time together has always been easy. We have faced a lot of challenges, far more than one couple should have to face, in my opinion. I will not go into those events, but I have either mentioned them or hinted at them over the years on this blog.
I believe that what we have experienced has ultimately brought us together as a couple, even if certain moments were really difficult.
I know that I love and respect Amanda, not just for the things that she does but for the person she is. I am thankful that we get to be partners in life.
Happy anniversary Amanda!
