Invasion: Seasons 1-2 – Review
I have found that Apple TV is knocking it out of the park when it comes to science fiction shows. One of the ones that I have recently watched is Invasion. There have been a number of shows named Invasion, this one started in 2021.
The basic premise is that there is an alien invasion. This has been done so many times. Why do we need it again?
Actually, I found Invasion, as with so many of the Apple TV shows, takes a well worn theme and breathes fresh life into it.
It begins slow and we do not see the actual aliens for some time. In fact, the show is not so much about the aliens but about a number of people who happen to be experiencing the invasion.
Invasion is really a character show that is about looking at how people respond to extraordinary circumstances. Are these ordinary people? Yes and now. You have to watch the show to understand.
The aliens start their plans well before they are formally discovered by humanity. One of the things I liked was that it was not just focused on the United States. It equally features many areas of the world, including Europe and Asia.
One of the themes is a sort of psychic connection to the aliens. There are some who can get into the aliens brains. They slowly figure this out and try to find a way to use this to defeat the aliens.
There are lots of mysteries and the show is no hurry to reveal them. It keeps the audience waiting for the next big reveal.
I thoroughly enjoyed Invasion. The aliens are terrifying and original. The people and their contexts are interesting. I am very much looking forward to the third season to come out.
