McMaster Divinity College
Many people are interested in good theological education. But there are so many schools out there. Is the school a degree mill? Is it too expensive? Is it too fundamentalist? Is it too liberal?
Thankfully, I came upon the right school right away. Living in St. Catharines Ontario at the time, I was not far from McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton Ontario. Still trying to understand my call, I enrolled in their Master of Divinity program in 1996. I found the school very helpful in assisting me to discern my call and to find what God had for me. They were academically thorough but still sensitive to a personal walk with Jesus. I graduated in 1999 and immediately enrolled in the Master of Theology program (this program is no longer available). Graduating in 2001, I missed the excitement of digging into God’s word and being challenged by talented professors. So in 2004, I enrolled in the Master of Arts (Christian Studies) program. I was very impressed with the school throughout this time. I no longer lived in St. Catharines but in Meaford, about three hours from the school. They were very flexible and I had plenty of opportunities to finish my degree in a way that fit with our current life.
I still strongly believe in McMaster Divinity College. They have become even more academically excellent over the years while strengthening their evangelical position. They offer Master of Theological Studies, Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (Christian Studies) and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. They are also very affordable. They are more affordable than most Canadian seminaries and definitely more affordable than American seminaries. I encourage you to check them out at their web page: www.macdiv.ca.
