R.C. Sproul Jr., Ashley Madison and the Rest of Us
It was recently revealed that R.C. Sproul Jr. was one of the many people who visited the Ashley Madison adultery website. You can read the story here.
I am not here to condemn Sproul. I have no reason to doubt Sproul’s honesty about the situation. I believe him that he never committed adultery in a physical sense. Unfortunately, that cannot be said for many other pastors, church leaders and others.
The reason I share this is not to drag Sproul’s name through the mud, as most pastors have committed adultery in their minds and many have been involved in pornography. I have a very specific reason for this blog post.
NOTHING WILL REMAIN SECRET.
The advent of the internet promised the illusion of secrecy and anonymity. This is why so many people are into internet pornography, even though they would never consider purchasing a pornographic magazine or walking into an adult movie store.
YOUR ANONYMITY IS ONLY AN ILLUSION.
When you consider looking at porn or having an improper relationship, you need to tell yourself that this will be revealed. Everything will come to light.
During some military training, one of the instructors taught the soldiers, “Always assume that someone is filming you and that what you do will appear on YouTube. Only do what you are comfortable to be made public.”
That is good advice that covers most areas of life. If you do not want your family, friends or community to known just don’t do it. Do not fool yourself that this one thing will be able to be kept secret.
ALL WILL BE REVEALED.

“I have no reason to doubt Sproul’s honesty about the situation.” I think a careful examination shows there is every reason to disbelieve him.
I can’t help wondering now in light of recent revelations if Sproul isn’t some kind of sexual deviant. Recent exposures show that Sproul covered up the sexual predations of a serial pedophile in his church, Steven Sitler. This is the same Sitler that molested many children in Doug Wilson’s church in Moscow Idaho. What kind of “pastors” wouldn’t be totally outraged by pedophiles molesting children in their midst?
I was only speaking of the Ashley Madison event. I am not familiar with this other accusation. If he covered up the actions of a pedophile, he should be held accountable.
