Severance: Season Two – Review
One of the shows that we have been watching regularly is Severance. It is such a unique show in both premise and tone.
The first season focused on the concept of these employees whose minds were severed to the point that their work and family lives were completely separate. There were hints that more was going on but not much was revealed.
The second season begins to open things up. In fact, without spoiling anything, I will say that the reason for getting the severed employees to do their computer work is shared. You will have to watch it to find out.
While the first season focused mostly on the employees, this one begins to dig deeper into Lumon, the company that is operating the severed work.
I saw company but it is more than a company. The way the Lumon people look at their founder is comparable to how Christians see Jesus. There is much commentary on religion and how it can be abused.
I will say that I found the first half of the second season to be too slow. I understand the quirky style of Severance but numerous times I found myself with zero desire to see the next episode.
The second half begins move quicker and the answers to our questions (some of them) begin to appear.
There is a satisfying season finale to it but it also ends the season with a great set up for the third season.
While the second season was not perfect, I am still very much enjoying Severance. It really is like no other show that I have watched and we will stick with it.
