Thank God It Was Sunday
My Sunday good news posts have been difficult lately as the past few Sundays have been very painful. It has been a challenge to push past the bad and find something good. Today was a different case all together.
Church went really well this morning. I don’t just mean the service, although it was great as always. I also mean the drive there. The fighting between the kids for the thirty-five minute drive can give us second thoughts about going to church. Today went really well, which helps us to actually enjoy the worship. We also were blessed by the fellowship. Queensway has a very loving congregation.
In the afternoon, we had Logan over for a visit. Unfortunately, Abby has been sick lately and we have not seen her for a couple of weeks. Logan’s visit was fine, but my blessing came when we dropped him off at his group home. I made sure to demand a hug before I left. When Logan hugged me, he spontaneously said, “Love you, Dad.” Now Logan will say almost anything in repetition of what is said to him. It is called echolalia. But I didn’t say anything to him, it was just from him. I was walking on air.
After dropping Logan off, we went to see a movie. I will admit that there have been many times that we have regretted seeing a movie because of how the kids were after the movie. Numerous times we have decided, “Never again!” Tonight went really well. Justus got distracted by the video games (it is always a trigger for him), but I was able to gently but strongly guide him past it. It actually was very pleasant night out with the family.
So that is my good news for the week. We are thankful to God for a very good Sunday.
