Thankful for Support and Improvement
Saturday was a pretty scary day. As Amanda was beginning to prepare dinner, she seemed off. This is not unusual as she is still recovering from a concussion from a year and a half ago.
But this was different.
Soon after, Amanda had lost all strength in her left side and was unable to speak. She failed all the tests for a stroke. 911 was called and Amanda was brought to the hospital by ambulance.
What exactly happened? We are still looking for some answers. There are more tests to be done and things to be investigated. Amanda is still in the ICU at the hospital at the time I’m writing this.
Now my purpose of this post is to share some good news. What is good about this?
One good thing was the amount of support we received during this time, even without us being overly public about it. Family, friends, neighbours, and our church have been a tremendous support. We feel the love.
The other good thing is that Amanda is improving very well. She is still weak on her left side but today was her first time sitting in a chair and even walking a bit. Some strength has returned but there is much more to regain.
We are not sure what life is going to look like for the Bedards in the next few weeks and months. We are praying for a quick and full recovery. we are also hoping for some answers.
I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t affected by the stress of all this. But the amount of people reaching out has helped.
I want to say that I am super impressed with Amanda throughout this. She was already struggling with post-concussion syndrome and now this. She would not want to be put on a pedestal but the way she has handled this has only increased the respect I have for her.

Hope she makes a full recovery 🙏
