The Cat is Back!
My good news is easy this week. I recently shared how we moved about a week ago. One of our cats, Pekoe, slipped out while we were bringing some furniture in. She was not an outdoor cat and had no survival skills. It was not looking good.
The kids held on to hope that we would get her back. With all my wisdom, I was pretty confident that she was dead. At one point Amanda went to the SPCA to identify the body, but that dead cat wasn’t ours.
Saturday morning I was laying in bed and was thinking of Pekoe. I realized that I really had not prayed for her return. I said a quick prayer, but ended it with an acknowledgement that it was likely too late.
A few hours later, the kids ran into the house screaming that they had heard Pekoe. Sure enough, in our back shed there were sounds of a cat trapped. We worked on freeing her and once we got our hands on our very panicked cat, she was back inside.
Pekoe had been missing for exactly a week.
She was pretty happy to be home. She even got up on her hind feet to give our dog a hug.
Some would say that she was only a cat. Yes but having a pet is about having another relationship in the family. Every time we lost a pet growing up, it was always emotional. My parents stopped getting animals, not because of the mess, but because it was too hard when they died.
We are thankful that Pekoe is back in our house and is healthy and safe (although possibly pregnant). All of us are very happy.
