The Role of a Military Chaplain
One of the most fulfilling parts of my ministry is my role as an army chaplain (commonly called a padre). I love being a padre and having the opportunity to both get to know the troops and to minister to them. It is a lot of fun and very rewarding.
However, I still find that many people have no idea what a military chaplain does. I found this article that may help. It is from an American perspective but it is still good. One difference I notice is that my role in the Canadian Forces is less religious and more about ministering to emotional needs (not that I don’t have a religious role). This article is worth reading just for the inspiring story of the four chaplains. Take a look.
