Too Good to Be False – Review
Christians, including myself, have all sorts of interests and are willing to fight for numerous causes. And yet when it comes down to it, Christians need more of a focus on Jesus. That’s where Tom Gilson’s Too Good to Be False comes in.
But do we really need another book about Jesus?
We actually never be able to exhaust everything that can be said about Jesus. But this book takes a different perspective than many. Instead of focusing on what Jesus did do, it looks at what Jesus didn’t do.
What is that? You will have to read the book but I can say that many of the things we expect our leaders to do, Jesus didn’t do, and yet he was still the greatest leader in history.
Tom Gilson takes us on a tour of Jesus, often pointing us to the reflections of Christian thinkers of the past. He leaves us with a fresh understanding of Jesus and hopefully a deeper desire to follow him.

So, when other religions make the same claim about Mohammed, about Krishna, etc, are they telling the truth too?
as for “good”, do define what that means. I don’t find a Jesus that kills people for no better reason than not accepting him as king to be “good”, Luke 19 and Revelation. This is the usual selfish and arrogant Christian idea that only they and their version of their god are “good”.
and as for ‘consistent’, nice try but the gospels do not present a consistent Jesus, nor a consistent story about this character.
it’s also quite interesting that the author doesn’t allow anyone to review it on Amazon. Why would that be?
People were not allowed to review it until August 1 when it was released. Nor conspiracy here.
