Using Movie Clips
Since I used a movie clip in my previous blog post, I thought I would address this question I was asked a while back. Should preachers use movie clips in their sermons? Here are some questions to ask yourself:
1. Why do you want to? Do you feel an obligation to get a clip in every week because that is what trendy pastors do?
2. Is the nature of the clip such that people will only be thinking about what happens next in the movie and not your message?
3. Does the movie clip effectively illustrate your point and does it do it better than just a verbal summary of the scene?
4. Do you have copyright permission? Seriously, don’t break the law.
