Black Widow – Review
It is too bad that Black Widow had to wait until she was killed off in one of the Avengers movies before she got her own solo movie. This movie proves she could have carried her own franchise years ago.
Obviously I enjoyed the movie. It felt like a cross between the Bourne movies and Marvel and that somehow worked. It was heavily embedded into the larger MCU but it would have worked just as a spy movie as well.
The movie revolves around Natasha’s family. But who is her family? The Avengers? Her birth family? Her government organized spy family? The answer ends up being: yes.
It was such a fun movie with a nice balance of seriousness and humour. I must admit that I loved the Red Guardian. I imagine I would be something like him if I was a superhero. It was so funny when he asked Natasha if Captain America ever mentioned him. I hope he gets to meet the new Captain America.
After so many cosmic Marvel movies, it was nice to have this kind of movie. This is the style that they normally steer into the television format but this deserved to be a movie.
One of the great things is that it gives us a new Black Widow with Natasha’s sister. I liked her character and look forward to seeing more of her in the future.
If you have not seen Black Widow yet, don’t get nervous about all the delays in release. It is a great movie that is worth watching.
