Can Christians Use the Enneagram?
There is some controversy about Christians using the Enneagram. The Enneagram is basically a personality test, although it is more complicated than that.
Some Christians absolutely love the Enneagram and see it as an essential tool of understanding ourselves and being aware of our strengths and weaknesses. Other Christians see it as a dangerous New Age tool that can only cause harm.

I purposely didn’t title this post “Should Christians use the Enneagram” because if I did think it was okay, I would be suggesting that people should try it even if they are uncomfortable with it. I’m not going to do that.
To give you a short answer to the question, I recently took the Enneagram test. I’m a 9w1, in case you are interested in it.
I was amazed at how accurate it was. I have taken other tests, such as Myers-Briggs, and they were pretty close but the Enneagram was the closest assessment of who I am as I have ever seen.
But just because it worked, doesn’t mean it is good. I will say that as I took the test and met with the coach after, there were no alarm bells at all. There was nothing to suggest a sinister nature. It was all pretty normal.
But what about all the New Age connections to its origins? I will admit that I have not researched it. But I judge tools not by their origins but their value. I try hard not to fall into the genetic fallacy.
Having gone through the process, I have found it to be very useful. Having said that, I’m not trying to convince others to go against their conscience. If you have misgivings, then stay true to your convictions. But if you want to look further into it, you are welcome to do that as well.
