The Adam Quest – Review
One of the most controversial conversations among Christians is that of human origins. What were the means by which God brought about the human race? Is the earth thousands of years old or millions of years old?
Too often this conversation produces more heat than light. People are so passionate about their own positions that they get nasty toward those they disagree with. I have longed to see a respectful look at all the positions.
Tim Stafford in The Adam Quest provides the book that I have been looking for. This is not a debate book, nor is it a systematic presentation of all the arguments.
The beautiful thing about this book is that Stafford presents the people behind young earth creationism, intelligent design (old earth creationism) and evolutionary creationism (theistic evolution). He humanizes them by presenting each of these thinkers as devout Christians attempting to wrestle with the intersection of the Bible and science.
Stafford has his own views and he shares them at the end of the book. But this does not enter into his chapters on these thinkers. He presents each person in a respectful manner.
The Adam Quest is a book that reminds us that beyond all the debates are real people. I highly recommend this book.
