Doom Patrol: Season Three – Review
I enjoyed this season much better than the previous season. Part of that was because I found the second season to be disjointed, whereas this one felt more connected.
One of the things I really likes about this season was the appearances of classic Doom Patrol villains, Garguax, Madame Rouge, the Brain, and Monsieur Mallah. I say “villains” because that is what they were in the comics, but they we not all that evil in this series.
In the comics, the enemies of the Doom Patrol were the Brotherhood of Evil. Grant Morrison updated them to the Brotherhood of Dada during his run.
In this season, we bet both the Brotherhood of Evil and the Sisterhood of Dada, with Madame Rouge being the connecting figure. She struggles to fit in either with the dada or the evil.
This season dives deep into the main characters. All of them struggle in their own way, although I found the arc concerning Jane the most interesting.
This series on the Doom Patrol has been fun but I feel like it should be coming to an end. We have revelled in the strangeness and absurdity of the characters but we may have seen all that we need to see.
There is supposed to be another season being made. Part of me hopes it will be the final season and that they will bring the series to a satisfying conclusion.
