Fear the Walking Dead: Season Eight – Review
Fear the Walking Dead, the first spinoff of The Walking Dead is now finished with season eight. And I’m okay with that.
I actually really liked the first couple of seasons of Fear the Walking Dead. I wished that it had spent longer following this blended family as they nominate the zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, a number of them were killed off quite early.
I struggled with the last few seasons. I realize that a nuclear explosion was meant to shake up the tired theme of another horde of walkers but it didn’t really work. I actually thought that plot was way over the top.
One of the problems with this series is that it lacked really likeable characters. In fact, much of the main cast portrayed rather unlikeable characters. This is not a criticism of the actors, as I think they portrayed unlikeable characters really well.
The final season did not do anything to reignite my interest in Fear the Walking Dead. It felt like it was just a last push to tie up a few loose ends. That’s probably what it was.
The most recent plot has focused on Padre, a place that was raising and training children to survive in this world. But was Padre good guys or bad guys? It seemed to keep flipping back and forth.
Some people complained about a decrease in the quality of the main show in the laters seasons. Even the worst seasons of TWD was better than the last seasons of Fear the Walking Dead.
This final season brought back a couple of characters from earlier in the show. That was fine but it really did not save the show. The wrapping up of Fear the Walking dead was okay but not great. It will be interesting to see if any of the surviving characters pop up in one of the new spinoffs.
