Giving Thanks
I enjoy Thanksgiving and not just for the turkey dinner (although Amanda cooked a fantastic meal today). I enjoy Thanksgiving because it pushes me to give thanks to God for all the blessings I have experienced.
I will admit that we have had our share of challenges, especially in the last five years. We have had a number of serious diagnoses. Money has been pretty tight since my last church. There have been some desperate prayers.
Having said that, I have plenty to give thanks for.
- I have a wonderful wife. I am sure it is not easy for her to be married to someone with autism. I am so thankful she puts up with me.
- I am thankful that Logan and Abby are able to be in the same group home.
- I am thankful that Justus, Emma and Faith are in our family. The circumstances that brought them into our family are quite remarkable.
- I am thankful for our current church family, Queensway Baptist Church. It has been a great place of healing and encouragement.
- I am thankful for the schools that I have been blessed to teach at (Emmanuel Bible College and Tyndale University College). They have been very supportive.
- I am thankful for my regiment, The Lorne Scots. They are much more than an army unity, they are a family.
- I am thankful for my health. Considering I have a serious disease, I am doing relatively well. I’m definitely doing better than I thought I would have two years ago.
- I am thankful for friends and family that have reached out to us and blessed us in many ways.
- I am thankful for the potential for new opportunities.
There is much more that I could share but these are just some of the blessings that I am thankful for. This is all good news.
