Good News: Back in the Nursing Home
No I have not moved and no I am not that old. But I did get to visit our local nursing home yesterday. Brookfield Baptist Church put on a worship service Sunday afternoon for the residents.
At one point in my ministry, doing worship services at nursing homes was a regular part of my schedule. At one church, the very first thing I did as a pastor after being hired was leading a service at a nursing home.
However, as I was talking to someone, I realized that it had been about ten years since I had led a service at a nursing home. This was not because I chose not to, it was just a change of circumstances. Plus the pandemic did not help.
It was nice to be back, even though I had never actually visited this home before. We had a great group of people from BBC who came out and helped with the service and visited with the people who came.
I forgot how fulfilling this kind of ministry can be. I’m thankful that we were able to do this.
