Good News: Proud of Church Leadership
We are currently in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. This makes things difficult on many levels. I feel that especially as a pastor of Queen Street Baptist Church.
We had postponed our midweek programs but we still had a Sunday morning worship service yesterday. After the service, I met with my leaders, including a doctor and a nurse that are a part of our congregation.
We wrestled through the pros and cons of whether to keep our Sunday services going. We are a smaller church but at the same time we have a lot of older people and people with some underlying health issues.
Each leader shared honestly about their feelings. None of us wanted to stop our gatherings and we didn’t want to operate out of fear.
At the same time, we wanted to make the decision based out of love. What was the best decision for our congregation and even for our community and beyond?
We reluctantly decided to hold off our physical Sunday morning gatherings for two weeks. There will be still worship and preaching, but it will be completely online.
We also agreed that the danger of social distancing is unhealthy isolation. We began plans on how to keep in touch with the most isolated of our congregation.
I really had a feeling of God’s presence in that meeting and I left the church building thankful for the leaders that we have at our church.
COVID-19 is bad news but there are many things happening that are still good news.
