Lost in Space: Season Three – Review
Lost in Space has a beloved place in the world of science fiction because of the nostalgia of the original series. Could a new version have any chance of competing?
The third season of Lost in Space is now out and it has made me like those series more than ever. I found this season to be tighter than previous seasons and it moved at a good pace toward its logical conclusion.
Lost in Space is general the story of a boy and his robot plus a space-version of the Swiss Family Robinson This series expanded beyond that, looking at a larger community of humans trying to survive, as well as a race of dangerous robots.
This series also spend more time getting into the other members of the family, fleshing them out so that the stories are still interesting even when Will and the robot are not there.
Lost in Space, in all of its seasons, does have a certain cheesy factor. But that is not a critique. It actually fits the style of the show and helps give it a certain charm.
I found this season (and presumably the series?) to have a satisfying conclusion. There had been plenty of plot lines swirling about and they all got nicely tied together.
One of the highlight for me was when Will went off to confront the evil robot, he went to his play list and picked Rush’s Tom Sawyer. So good!
There was a certain innocence, although definitely darker than the original series, that made Lost in Space stand out from most of the dark science fiction out there. I really enjoyed it.
