Lost in Space: Season Two – Review
I will confess that I have really enjoyed the new Lost in Space series. The original series was not something that I watched a lot so it is not out of nostalgia.
I say “confess” because the series is really over the top. Every episode has someone in the Robinson family in a life-threatening situation and in need of last-minute rescue. If this stuff happened as often as here, everyone in the family would have some serious PTSD.
At the end of the last season, the Robinsons were stranded on another planet. “Dr. Smith” was revealed as a villain. The robot had gone missing. The Robinsons were isolated from the rest of the colonists.
Through some wild circumstances, they are reunited with the other colonists on the Resolute. It is also discovered that there is another robot on the Resolute who has been tortured by the humans. And Dr. Smith is up to her old tricks again.
This season gets more into the background with the robot race. We also get more glimpses of the Robinson family and who they really are. Plus there is a deepening of Dr. Smith’s character, seeing both her evil and positive side.
Why do I like this series? To me it is a mix of the 50s style and modern science fiction. The special effects are great. The stories are over the top but with a touch of modern realism. If find Lost in space just good old fashioned fun.
