Loving My Job
It has now been three weeks that I have been officially in my position at the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre. The Good News that I want to share is that I am loving my job!
While we miss the people from our church in Nova Scotia, the job that I have taken is one that fits for me more than anything else I have done.
I love being a military chaplain and I love teaching. Teaching military chaplains is the best combination of those two tasks.
There are numerous things that I appreciate about this position. I like the topics that I get to teach. More than that, I love the people I get to teach. Every group has a different personality and its own feel. And as I teach a new class of chaplains, they become my colleagues and we will be able to stay connected.
I also get to work with some fantastic people. They are from different backgrounds but each one brings something unique. I love the team setting. One of the main challenges in being a small church pastor is that it is difficult to have that same team experience.
But what about preaching? Preaching was one of my favourite parts of being a pastor. Well, I get to preach from time to time on the base chapel. In fact I had my first Sunday yesterday.
I know that every job will have its challenges but I am really enjoying this job. I look forward to the next number of years growing as an instructor.
