On the Road to Recovery
The best news we received this past week was that Amanda was coming home. After almost a week in the ICU, it was wonderful to have her back home with us.
That is not to say that she has fully recovered from her stroke. She is still walking with a walker and has weakness on the one side. She also gets exhausted easily, especially in the evenings.
It is a bit of a dance figuring out what life looks like now. My instinct is to do everything and not allow her to do anything. I definitely need to give Amanda as much time as possible to rest.
However, Amanda wants to try little things, to see what she is able to do within her current limitations. At first I tried to stop her in an attempt to protect her but I’m starting to listen.
Amanda was even able to join us at church on Sunday. The previous Sunday, I didn’t even go as I was at the hospital with her. People in the congregation were (pleasantly) shocked to see her at church.
Amanda still has a long ways to go. Your prayers for her are much appreciated.
