Star Trek Voyager: Season Three – Review
Star Trek television series have a reputation for getting significantly better in the third season (except for the original series). Voyager was no exception.
Part of it may have been Voyager passing out of Kazon space, as they were never that interesting. It was also partly because of the increased character development.
The season opener as amazing. At the end of last season, Voyager had been taken over by an alien race and the crew left stranded on a harsh planet. It was left up to the Doctor and a reformed serial killer to retake the ship. It as an incredible episode.
I also loved “Flashback,” where Tuvok and Janeway mentally go back to Tuvok’s first assignment on the Excelsior, commanded by Captain Sulu. This episode required the weaving together of Tuvok’s story with elements of the movie Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. It was extremely well done.
Voyager’s travels eventually bring them to Borg space, one of the most fearsome foes of the Star Trek mythos. There are a couple of great episodes on this, especially the season finale.
Season three of Voyager was a solid addition to the Star Trek franchise.
