My Suggestions for Summer Reading
There is nothing like sitting outside in the beautiful weather, enjoying the sunshine and a good book. But what are you going to read? I have shared some suggestions from some other people but I thought I would share some of my own ideas. I have read a number of books recently that I really enjoyed and would suggest that you check them out.
C.S. Lewis: A Life by Alister McGrath (USA) (Canada)
- I am a huge C.S. Lewis fan and have read a number of books about him. This book by McGrath is the best one I have read so far. He fills in a lot of details that we don’t often hear about.
Five Views on Apologetics edited by Steve Cowan (USA) (Canada)
- If you are interested in apologetics, you need to read this book. Some top apologists put forth their methods and interact with each other about the other positions. There is something that can be learned from each of them.
The Gospel in the Marketplace of Ideas by Paul Copan and Kenneth Litwak (USA) (Canada)
- Is Paul’s experience in Athens in Acts 17 something that we should seek to emulate? In this book, the authors take an in-depth look at that event and then provide helpful comparisons to today’s culture.
The Future of the Faith by Ronald Sider and Ben Lowe (USA) (Canada)
- We are at an important crossroads for the Church. How will things change as leadership transitions from one generation to the next? This book is a conversation between an older and younger evangelical on some of the major issues facing the Church.
