The Day is Here!
I can’t believe that the day has finally come. My oldest son, Logan, is now an adult! I kind of feel old having an adult son. It’s hitting me more than when I turned fifty.
Unfortunately, our circumstances are not ideal. There are many things that I would like to do with my son on his eighteenth birthday. However, I didn’t even see him, except by Skype.
Logan lives in a group home about 1.5 hours away and our time to see him is limited. It is not what I expected that day eighteen years ago when he was born. In fact I had no idea what to expect, other than that I had a beautiful son.
We have had a lot of ups and downs over the years. There were a few times when we thought he wouldn’t even make it to eighteen (check out this article for the details).
But we have made it and despite the challenges we are family and we each other very much. I can’t dwell on the things that haven’t happened, I have to focus on the wonderful memories we have already created.
Happy birthday Logan!
