The Passing of a Saint
I had the privilege of pastoring at First Baptist Church Meaford for nine years. Every one of the people in the congregation were special. One couple in particular that I respected were Harry and Nell Grift. They were special to us in so many ways. We bought our first house from the Grifts and they made sure we could afford it.
Beyond their blessing to us, they had an incredible impact for Christ in Meaford. They visited shut-ins in the nursing homes and they did a far better job than I ever did. They were involved in the food bank and gathering for Yonge Street Mission. Even though they were in their 80s, they did ten times more than the average Christian. Did I mention that they both turned 80 while visiting Africa? If I had to describe both Harry and Nell, I would say that they both smelled like Jesus.
Yesterday, Nell died. I have so many memories of her. I remember the many times that she walked into my office to tell me the latest thing that God had done. She will be missed by her family, her church and everyone she ever met. My prayers are especially with Harry. Their love for each other was always apparent. They would tease each other like teenagers. Please pray for Harry and the rest of the family. Pray for the funeral that Nell’s witness would go forth in power.

Thank you Steve for your kind words and friendship with Mom and Dad. Tomorrow is Dad’s 87th birthday and I am sure it will not be the same for him without Mom.
God bless,
Ron
We all miss her. There are many things that I still see around that remind me of her. Please pass on my greetings to your dad.
