The Walking Dead: Season 11 – Review
I have been a fan of The Walking Dead for about a decade. The series has had some ups and downs, with some seasons better than others. With season 11, the series comes to an end.
I thought the final season was one of the stronger seasons and I’m thankful that it ends on a strong note.
There were a number storylines for this season. One included their conflict with another group known as the Reapers. This brings Daryl into conflict with an old love interest, one who is extremely dangerous.
But most of the season deals in some way with the Commonwealth. This is a large community of 50,000 people which has basically rebuilt the world from before the dead. There are stores and jobs and money and almost everything else one could want.
The Commonwealth is protect by a militaristic police force that resemble stormtroopers. The community is run by a governor named Pamela Milton. In many ways she reminds us of the typical politician, except this one has darker plans. And her son is a real piece of work as well.
The members of the communities that we have been following for the past number of seasons get tangled up with the Commonwealth to various degrees. Some of the members embrace the Commonwealth, while others suspect the truth.
I won’t spoil how it ends but the conflict does come to a climax. This includes an epic battle with the walkers. Speaking of the walkers, there is an interesting development with them that I hope is explored in future series.
One of the things that surprised me about this season is that not more major characters were killed. really, only one major character dies. I wonder if this is to allow them to appear in other series.
It is worth watching the finale right to the end. There is a reappearance of two major characters. This is a setup for a future series, one that I am looking forward to.
I know that many people gave up on The walking dead a few seasons ago. For some, the death of Glenn by Negan was the end. Ironically, Negan has become one of the most interesting characters in the last few seasons.
I think the series was worth sticking with and I am glad that I watched it until the end. I am also glad there are still opportunities to explore this post-apocalyptic
